Arthur Atkinson IV PHD

Supervisor, Electronics Recycling Center

Arthur is passionate about sustainability in every aspect of his life and strives to live a life that models this and pays careful attention to how we care for the earth. He has worked in the field of Sustainability for over five years where he has seen millions of pounds of e-waste be diverted from landfills under his direction.



Danny Muller

Danny is a sustainability advocate, a bicycle enthusiast, and a lover of the great outdoors. He is passionate about combatting the global crisis of landfill disposal both on and off the clock. He has spent over three years managing operations in various sustainability initiatives.



Matthew Dahlman

Assistant Supervisor of Inventory & Recycling, USD Electronics Recycling Center

Hails from the Pacific Northwest, enjoys searching out sustainable food sources to sharpen cooking skills. Amateur angler with a dream of obtaining a captain’s license in the near future. Much of his workday is spent providing local entrepreneurs with useful electronic “waste”.



Adahli Trejo is originally from La Habra, California. She’s a senior at USD double majoring in International Business and Marketing. She’s also the President of Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority Inc. at USD and a recent alum of Semester at Sea! At the ERC, she’s taken up a variety of roles including Marketing Intern, assisting customers at the front desk, and working in the back warehouse.





Ashton Chacon moved to San Diego in 2013 to pursue a degree in finance. He is in a position focused on IT asset disposition at USD’s ERC for four years now. In May 2017, Ashton was recognized for his excellent efforts at the ERC and his willingness to start projects and see them through to completion by the Department of Sustainability at USD.  Hoping to pursue a permanent career in an environmentally oriented company upon graduation, he remains dedicated to contributing his technical expertise to the ERC.



Austin Martini is originally from Portland, Oregon. He’s a third year at USD studying mechanical engineering. He is also a member of FIJI, the Ultimate Frisbee Team, and the Climbing Team! He is the Engineering Intern at the ERC. His role includes testing electronics for their functionality. A fun fact about Austin is that he’s fluent in Albanian!





Ayushi Agarwal is an attorney from India. She came to the United States to pursue her Master in Law at USD. She moved here almost two years ago and loves San Diego! Her work at ERC is to maneuver online sales through eBay. Her assignments at the ERC also include making sure ERC’s internal control comply with CalRecycle, DTSC, and SB- 20 CA State laws and regulations. Ayushi has worked at the ERC for almost a year and is grateful for all the opportunities it has brought her.                                                           



Brennan Edwards is a senior at USD majoring in Political Science with a minor in International Relations. He hopes to go to law school where he will either work as a corporate attorney or in international law. Brennan grew up in San Diego for most of his life. He began working at the ERC in 2017 after being a customer during the ERC’s early operations. He has helped out in every position at the ERC, but mainly works in the e-Lab, there he tests items to see what condition they are in.




Caroline Gruthers is a junior at USD. She moved to San Diego for school from Texas. She is a Finance major with a minor in Nonprofit Social Enterprise and Philanthropy. Caroline loves the outdoors and being in nature. Something she wants to do during her lifetime is visit every National Park in the U.S. She loves San Diego and hopes to be able to stay here after college!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

Gaby Escalona is from Caracas, Venezuela and is a second year student at USD. She is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Computer Science. At the ERC she works at the front desk and handles all of our social media including our Instagram and Facebook accounts. When she graduates she hopes to continue her work in this area as well as public relations and graphic design. She loves the ERC and hopes to work here for as long as she can!




Loki Bhogela is an electronics enthusiast who likes to work on any and every electronic device, his favorite being desktops and laptops. Apart from being a tech enthusiast, he likes to read and watch Netflix series a lot, mostly science fiction genre. He likes to travel and has already been to couple of lovely places in and around San Diego. He is hoping to stay around here after graduation to explore some more places.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  



London Mahaffey is currently a junior at USD, and is originally from Corona, California. She is majoring in Biology with a minor in Computer Science. London aspires to become a geneticist and do research in the field of epigenetic. She hopes to bring knowledge to the public realm about the substantial influences the environment has on people’s health, and how the environment has major influences on microscopic cellular levels in the human body.
